Ski poles are often an after thought for many customers, and who can blame them after focusing so hard on getting the right ski and ski boots for them. There is quite a difference between a basic aluminum pole and a higher price composite however. The basic aluminum pole should be considered for entry level skiers or someone sticking to a strict budget. These poles will bend easily in a fall or in one of those awkward exits from the chairlift. Higher quality composite constructed ski poles offer lighter swing weight, and flexibility so they are less likely to bend.
